oh, to black & queer (trans, gay, bi, les, ace, foward-thinker, magical)!
this week of the inaugural San francisco black pride 2025 is the culmination of months of planning and generations of lost dreams that have been found!
as someone who identifies as black & queer, personally, this is a celebration of loving parts of myself out loud, parts that society chooses to hate on a lot but constantly steal from, too! this process of planning a gift for us- all who identify with black queerness- has been the healing i’ve needed, so i can only hope this gift heals someone else in return.

Evin Glaude (blkinmotion care curator) loves to say that events like these are the live birth of millions of dreams - we honor all of those past, present, and future who heed the call to gather community to reflect on & celebrate our lives.

so many of us expand and CHALLENGE our hearts to love in a difficult world.
gratitude has truly led the way in this process. we remained open to the possibilities that the universe would provide and she did! people have dedicated time, space, funds, art, resources, and the intangible - their hearts.
the power of celebrating black queer folks in a time where our right to live is being questioned and attacked is unmeasurable!
blkinmotion is a black queer artistic collective hosting events since 2022 and head organizer, dom brown a.k.a. esora rose (me lol), has been thrilled to be a part of the sf black pride events team 2025! We’ve hosted our own events like the cookout, field day, a black queer trans juneteenth, and it seemed natural to contribute our services and connections to this movement.

the blkinmotion team grateful to be able to hold this virtual space to show black queer lives and will soon be creating an official archive exclusively documenting black queer life in the bay area and more! we realize how important it is to preserve our stories, our faces, for the future to see we are here, we are love.
So on this inaugural san francisco black pride,
we will take up space, we will learn from each other, we will love on each other, and share our black ass, queer ass magic!
